In December 2015, Kaiser declared TenFourFox would move away directly from Firefox source code with 45 ESR, citing an inability to port later versions due to operating system and Rust compiler limitations. Only minor ESR updates were advertised as suitable for general consumption. Between major ESR versions, developers tracked changes in Firefox's 6-week rapid release cycle with test builds only to determine whether or not they would still be able to build the software after the next ESR version was released. Īfter Mozilla announced the extended support release (ESR) of Firefox, Cameron Kaiser stated that starting with version 10 of TenFourFox, stable releases of TenFourFox will be based on Firefox ESR to reduce maintenance burden. Version 5.0 switched to the current Mozilla rapid release framework, based on Firefox 5 and including additional AltiVec scaling and color features, and was released on June 16, 2011.

Under Ubuntu I had to install the qemu-system-ppc as-well as openbios-ppc packages alongside the usual qemu-related packages. If you're using a different host operating system like Windows, you'll have to adjust this command somewhat. The following command successfully boots for me under Ubuntu. This image should be as up-to-date as you can make OS X Tiger, so fully ready to use. You can create a new admin user and delete this one if you want to use your own name.Īll subsequent updates have already been applied, including all sixteen thousand JAVA updates. The system automatically logs in to an admin account named Tim Cook with the password password (all lower-case). Make sure you have enough space available before you start and use this image. The hard drive image size clocks in at around 4.8GB when unpacked, and is configured to be a 20GB drive. This one is directly bootable in a VM as a mounted ISO, which is probably more convenient. Other images available seem to have been dumped in a way that made them not directly bootable, requiring you to burn it to a physical disc first.
I have also included a bootable image of the installation media, should you want to install your own clean virtual machine and/or physical hardware. Here's a clean installation of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger PPC, fully updated and ready to be used with qemu.
